Carbon-bodied ’69 Mustang primes itself for SEMA

Oklahoma-based Trick Rides plans on attending this year’s SEMA show in November with what it claims is the world’s first 1969 Ford Mustang clad from top to bottom in carbon fiber. The project is called Scorched, and production plans exist for only several such vehicles. Owners will be choosing from three eight-cylinder options.

The car rides on a custom chassis by Roadster Shop. It is topped by a bodywork made completely of pre-preg carbon fiber, which the company claims is strong enough to eliminate any need for metal panels. With the whole body being remade from scratch, it didn’t have to resemble the original – and it does deviate from it with flared fenders and other styling cues giving it a much more modern look. There’s also a prominent front splitter, a bulging hood, side skirts and a rather aggressive diffuser.

The arches are occupied by Forgeline three-piece forged rims shod in Continental ExtremeContact Force tires. Six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston ones at the back accompany the 355mm (14-inch) brake discs. The suspension uses an independent setup at the front and a four-link system with large sway bars at the back.

For the engine, you can go for a 5.0-liter supercharged Coyote V8, a formidable 7.0-liter Boss Nine unit and a same-sized Ford Performance mill. All three are paired with a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission and drive the rear wheels.

There has been no mention of the pricing, but you should probably hurry up and contact Trick Rides if you want one.
