AutoTopNL has gotten its hands on the sixth generation of the Shelby GT500 packing a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 with 760 PS (750 hp / 559 kW) at its disposal. The mill revs up to 7,500 RPM and uses a 7-speed DCT to drive the rear wheels. The manufacturer-rated top speed is 180 mph, or 290 km/h. Does it live up to that expectation, though? Once on an empty highway, the driver floors the pedal and rapidly reaches 100 mph (161 km/h). He then proceeds to go past 170 mph (274 km/h) in just 15 seconds.
Arguably even more impressive than the top speed are the acceleration dynamic and the epic engine soundtrack. One has to wonder what Shelby could have in stock for the next Mustang generation.
