Ford Ranger PHEV bows in Europe with the most torque in the lineup

Ford has properly introduced the petrol-electric Ranger in Europe and revealed that it delivers 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque – the most of any production Ranger, including even the Raptor spec. Deliveries are set to begin next spring.

The powertrain comprises a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and a ten-speed automatic transmission. An electric motor supplies 102 PS (101 hp / 75 kW) of its own. An 11.8-kWh traction battery on board allows charging from external sources and yields up to 45 km (28 miles) of all-electric range.

In hybrid mode, the powertrain sends 279 PS (275 hp / 205 kW) to the asphalt. A transfer case with a reduction gear and a rear diff lock are included as standard, and Ford says the suspension is optimized for hybrid driving. Last but not least, the Ranger PHEV can power up external appliances straight from the factory – no paid accessories required.

A special trim called Stormtrak has decals on the sides, rides on exclusive 18-inch wheels, sports its own radiator grille design, and comes preloaded with premium features.
