Automaker Iran Khodro has attended a motor show in Tehran with a battery-electric variant of its already-selling Rira crossover (see video). The company confirmed the intent to launch mass production, but neglected to say when.
Compared to its petrol counterpart, the Rira EV sports a different front end with a solid panel instead of the radiator grille and blue accents all around. The rear end still has fake exhaust pipes, and the front bumper has an air intake.
A single electric motor drives the wheels with 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. Once fully charged, the car has 420 km (261 miles) of range according to the outdated NEDC standard. Plugging it into a wall socket at home will replenish the charge in 10 hours.
