Car marque Jaguar has reported selling 15,467 vehicles in Q2 2023, a modest 2% increase over the previous year. Things look much less optimistic at a closer glance, though: the all-electric I-Pace SUV has plummeted by 38% over the same period year-on-year.
Specifically, the luxury soft-roader has found 1,339 new owners from April to June, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of declining sales. Overall, the company has only managed to move 2,798 I-Pace units in the first half of the year, a 33-percent plunge from the year before.
With experts predicting total annual sales on the order of 5,000 units, the current year may become the worst yet for the troubled I-Pace. The news bodes ill for Jaguar, which aspires to become a producer of exclusively-electric luxury vehicles and is currently working on a number of other models, including a four-door Grand Tourer.
