Koenigsegg Gemera gets some pre-production modifications

The original Koenigsegg Gemera debuted three years ago. The four-seat ‘megacar’ is still underway to its small-batch production, and the automaker has now made some late design changes.

One of these was ditching its proprietary Direct Drive transmission in favor of a gearbox called LSTT – a modified version of the LST box powering the Koenigsegg Jesko.

Not only that, but the electric motor count was cut down from three to just one, which is mounted on the front axle and weighs as little as 39 kilograms (86 pounds). It slams the wheels with 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) and 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft) of torque. The main engine stays the same: it is a three-cylinder mill assisted by dual turbos. The resulting hybrid system produces a combined 1,400 PS (1,381 hp / 1,030 kW) and 1,850 Nm (1,364 lb-ft) of torque.

Furthermore, the Gemera has got a second powertrain option based on an engine known as Hot V8, delivering 1,500 PS (1,479 hp / 1,103 kW) and 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) of torque. Combined with an e-motor, it delivers 2,300 PS (2,269 hp / 1,692 kW) and 2,750 Nm (2,028 lb-ft) of torque to the asphalt.

The production remains scheduled for late 2024.
