Lamborghini gets a few hybrids and an EV ready for future

Lamborghini senior executive Stephan Winkelmann revealed the marque’s electrification strategy.

He said that new hybrid vehicles would appear in three years’ time. He brought up the Sian (see the photos and the video), the company’s first part-electric supercar that was also destined to become something like a research lab on wheels for the engineering department. The technologies and technical know-how it yielded may very well be used in future Lambo cars.

Winkelmann pointed out a handful of advantages of part-electric cars, including lower emissions, better dynamic performance and acceptable weight thanks to the extensive use of modern lightweight materials. He added that the first “pure” Lamborghini EV without a gas-powered counterpart should go on sale in the late 2020s.

The company will be investing a record €1.5 billion in electrification. ICE-powered models will continue to be its staple product for the time being, but these will be adopted to the strict Euro-7 standards.

The Sian Hybrid is Raging Bull’s most powerful production car to date, coming with a 6.5-liter V12 and an electric motor joining forces for 819 PS (808 hp / 602 kW).
