The U.S. office of Lexus continues experimenting with the LX SUV. The latest design study is called “Glam LX” and looks like a beauty salon on wheels, complete with a wardrobe, a cosmetics box and other beauty tools.
The tailgate now consists of two hinged doors that swing open to reveal a wardrobe. There’s also a shoe rack and some drawers, while the doors themselves have integrated mirrors with backlight. A slide-out privacy screen is provided for those who don’t mind changing clothes on the street. The rear side doors are “suicide doors”, i.e., back-hinged, like on most Rolls-Royces.
Inside, the glove compartment lid opens to create a small, but handy table for fiddling with the manicure tools found inside. The rear seats, Lexus claims, double as a fully equipped cosmetic parlor, complete with a table and pro-grade lighting.
On the outside, the car is wrapped in a pearlescent reddish shade of pink and wears flashy rhinestone-encrusted badges. Commenting on the build, the automaker admits it won’t go on sale, but will instead be exhibited at various public events to demonstrate how versatile the LX crossover can be.
