Speaking in an interview with Automotive News, McLaren Product Strategy Manager said the marque was not ruling out adding a crossover SUV to its product range – but some more time will be needed to assess its viability and decide on the main features.
According to him, the most crucial objective is to deliver a versatile and spacious vehicle that would incite its owner to share their positive experience with as many people around as possible. Whether it will have any actual off-road credentials, or whether it will even be an SUV in the traditional sense of the word at all, remains to be decided.
He added that much time would pass until McLaren would begin competing with the other brands on the SUV market. The previous CEO of the company was vehemently opposed to the idea of diluting the brand image with an SUV, so it was never even a consideration. Of course, things have taken a different course with the change of leadership.
