930 PS, $2.1M: This Porsche 911 restomod is one of the most radical ones

A little while ago, Danish tuning company Kalmar Automotive announced a Porsche 911 restomod series inspired by the classic 959, but with some 993 bodywork and a powertrain sourced from the 992 Turbo. It has now revealed all the principal details.

As it turns out, there will be three different restomods set to be released in nine units each. The range-topping version will be known simply as the Kalmar 9X9. It will feature double-wishbone pushrod suspension at the front end, optional rear-wheel steering, and a racing-spec brake system with titanium calipers and carbon discs. A 3.8-liter turbo flat-six borrowed from a 992 Turbo S will drive the wheels with cool 930 PS (917 hp / 684 kW) thanks to numerous upgrades. Kalmar promises a two-second sprint time for this car.

A somewhat simpler alternative comes in the form of the 9X9 Sport, a lighter vehicle armed with a 3.0-liter engine and 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW). This one needs 3.7 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) and can be optioned with a seven-speed manual transmission if the default seven-speed PDK isn’t your first pick.

Finally, a version called 9X9 Leiсhtbau (“lightweight build”) comes in at 1,250 kilos, or 2,755 pounds. It uses a four-liter non-turbo flat-six engine to send 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW) to the wheels. The transmission options boil down to six-speed manual and PDK.

Kalmar doesn’t go into great detail on the exterior and interior modifications, but the photos suggest that both are being essentially created from scratch with utmost attention to quality and detail. This might help justify the price somewhat, rumored to start from eye-watering $2,100,000.
