Nio ET9 spins off a luxury edition

The Chinese automaker is already offering an exclusive version of its Nio ET9 sedan (see video) called the Horizon Special Edition. It packs a premium of 50,000 CNY over the standard car and costs from 818,000 CNY, despite not having any new tech on board. The first deliveries are scheduled for the end of September.

On the outside, the Horizon boasts a two-tone paintwork known as the Celestial Mirror, which divides the whole car in two and plays on the horizon theme. Customers may choose from a several standard color combinations offered as premium for the regular ET9 (10,000–30,000 CNY depending on the color). The mirror-like 23-inch wheels are also free in this special edition. If you want to max out the looks, consider paying 3,500 CNY extra for orange brake calipers instead of black.

The four-seat interior also follows the same bi-color theme and boasts special edition logos on the console and the scuff plates. Nio proudly calls the console “the Executive Bridge” in this version. Nappa leather with premium stitching and natural wood accents are standard, too.

The rest is stock Nio ET9. The car remains sized 5,325 x 2,017 x 1,621 mm with 3,250 mm between the axles. It uses two e-motors to drive all four wheels with 707 PS (697 hp / 520 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds. The top speed doesn’t exceed 220 km (136 mph).

A 102-kWh battery pack delivers up to 650 km (404 miles) of range per the CLTC standard. Like all other Nio vehicles sold in China, this one can be purchased without a battery. Customers who choose to rent the battery instead can get the Horizon Special Edition from 710,000 CNY.
