Nissan has confirmed that its Rogue Sport SUV – the North American version of the international Qashqai – is set to retire in December 2022. Automotive News adds that the stocks should run out around March 2023, leaving the buyers a choice between Kicks and Rogue (X-Trail) models.
The Rogue Sport entered the U.S. market five years ago, with the company hoping it would be a sales booster, but it turned out more like a sales bust in the end.
Now, dealerships have received letters signed by company VP Scott Shirley stating that the production of the Rogue Sport will wrap up in the end of 2022.
New buyers in the market for a Nissan tend to prefer the compact-sized Kicks CUV, which costs significantly less while offering a similar package. No wonder the marketing department felt like only leaving the more successful model on sale.
There have been no reports about the Qashqai going discontinued in any other countries, so it looks like only its U.S. cousin gets the early retirement ticket.
