Ford Sierra RS500 Continuation series of three to come out in 2022

CNC Motorsport AWS, an automotive company based in Great Britain, has revealed its intention to resurrect the iconic Ford Sierra RS500, or Sierra Cosworth, as the sports car was nicknamed for its engine designer.

There will be only three continuation units, the first one scheduled to be released in early 2022. The company promises to use authentic design blueprints and even hire original Sierra RS500 designers in the team for assistance. You can look at the original car in the attached video. The modern reincarnation will start from £185,000 before options.

The first production example will come based on a mint Sierra RS500 body found abandoned in a garage somewhere in the UK since the 1980s. Apparently, the original manufacturer produced the bodywork, but never put it on a car.

Power will come from a painstakingly recreated 2.0-liter Cosworth turbo engine boosted with the help of modern tuning components. Whereas the original sports car only had 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW) at its disposal at most, the new one will pack healthy 575 PS (567 hp / 423 kW). A five-speed Getrag manual transmission will send the momentum to the wheels.

Assisting the project is none other than Andy Rose, who worked on the original Ford Sierra Cosworth. He was the one who produced the blueprints for the revival, and he will also design safety cages for the new cars. Engines will also be built with the assistance from specialists who made the original drivetrains.
