One of the highlights of the past week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed was a $2,000,000 Lamborghini Sesto Elemento racecar converted into a street-legal ride by Lanzante.
One car is finished, and another one is in the making, the tuning company says. There aren’t many details on the build, but CarBuzz reports that most of the work went into reinforcing the body to be legal on the streets and other such compliance work. The coupe already had compliant headlights and only needed a minor rework of its exhaust system. Apparently, this is because EU only requires cars to comply with emission laws from their own era, and the Sesto Elemento came out 15 years ago, back when the emission standards were less strict.
It also helped that the racecar was largely inspired by, and based on, the Lamborghini Gallardo. As such it inherited its V10 rated at 570 PS (562 hp / 419 kW) without major modifications. The owner of this example ordered it with an AC and some other modern niceties, so it gained roughly 200 kilos (440 pounds) and now weighs 1,200 kilos (2,645 lbs). That’s featherweight for a street-legal supercar with 570 PS.
Different sources claim between 10 and 20 Sesto Elemento units were produced in total. The name means “Sixth Element” and refers to carbon on the periodic table.
