2019 Skoda Kodiaq RS BiTDI gets a sizeable power boost via ECU tune

Czech tuner shop DieselPower Race Engineering has found an efficient way to improve the performance of the latest Skoda Kodiaq RS BiTDI. The stock 240 hp (178 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque may not be that bad, but the heavy SUV could still use some help moving its bulk around.

A simple ECU tune proved sufficient for the twin-turbo, six-cylinder diesel to start delivering 290 hp (216 kW) and 580 Nm (428 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels. This should translate into a considerable agility boost for the SUV, which weighs in at almost two metric tons (4,200+ lbs). Watch DieselPower’s videos here for actual measured values.

On a side note, did you know the Kodiaq RS is the fastest-going seven-seat SUV at the Nürburgring? Piloted by Sabine Schmitz, the car has completed the North Loop in just 9 minutes 29.84 seconds. The catch is, the Kodiaq RS is also the *only* seven-seat SUV to have taken part in the challenge so far. We’ll see how it fares when competitors arrive.
