Toyota imagines what its new Century SUV would look like sans top

Toyota’s next-generation Century can be tailored to every customer’s preferences – this is the message that the Japanese brand wanted to convey at the IAA Munich, at least, as it unveiled a roofless version of the SUV.

A Century with a retractable top has made its appearance on screen during the presentation of the main, fixed-roof version, Motor1 reports. As it showed up, the speaker – Simon Humphries – as just telling the audience about the ‘limitless opportunities’ of the car. While he never brought up the convertible specifically, it was strongly hinted at as being one of the options for those able to afford it.

The standard SUV is 5.2 meters (203 inches) long and is already available to pre-order. Prices start at a cool ¥25,000,000 (roughly $170,000).

The production is taking place at the same Toyota factory in Tahara where the latest Land Cruiser and Lexus cars are made. The manufacturer’s plans involve making no more than 30 Century units per month, and there are no export plans – at least, for now.
