What is your idea of a luxurious work chair? Well, Volkswagen Norway has a suggestion to make with a power-assisted seat equipped with a couple of lights, heating and a stereo system.
If that sounds crazy, wait until you hear the rest. It also comes with a safety belt, a warning signal and a reversing camera. An electric motor drives its 4-inch (100-mm) aluminum wheels to let you make trips around the building at 19 km/h (12 miles per hour).
Once fully charged, the chair can cover up to 12.4 kilometers, or 7.7 miles. The Norwegian office of Volkswagen believes this to be enough for several days visiting your colleagues from all around the building and paying the occasional visit to the bathroom.
By now, you could be thinking about it being the worst-timed April joke ever. In reality, though, the automaker only made one such seat to advertise its commercial van and cargo transport lineup. In other words, forget about buying one. If it is any consolation, walking is good for your health!
