Check out a rare sports car from Brazil

The Bianco S was made in Brazil in the 1970s, and how many out of 320 units survived to this day is unclear. One of the cars went under the hammer in France on July 2; the selling price was not announced, but it was expected to be between €35,000 and €45,000.

The Bianco S comes based on the Volkswagen Beetle platform with the same suspension system, brakes, transmission, steering and engine. The latter is a naturally aspirated flat-four mill with 1.6 liters of displacement and 65 horsepower (47 kilowatts) at the output end. The body is GFRP with some rebar used here and there.

Two carburetors assist the engine, while a four-speed manual transmission carries the torque to the rear wheels. The coupe needs 17.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxes out at 146 km/h (90 mph). As unimpressive as these figures might seem, enthusiasts back in the time used to tune these cars, making them more powerful overall.

Interior highlights include pile carpets on the floor, a couple of bucket seats wrapped in leather, and the original dashboard.

This car dates back to 1978 and bears its creator’s signature. The listing mentions that there are no more than three such cars in France at the moment.

The Bianco Company was founded by Ottorino Bianco, an immigrant from Italy, in 1974. It had only existed for five years, and the S was its most popular car out of three models. The best times saw the small enterprise churn out two dozen cars per week, but their total quantity was very modest at best.
