Avatr 12 gets a facelift

Changan-owned car brand Avatr has refreshed its fastback known simply as the model 12 in China. Full specs and pricing are still pending, but preorders are already underway.

The serial hybrid version introduced slightly less than a year ago has changed the most. It now commands a much bigger 52-kWh battery pack (up from 39.05 kWh) and does 356 km (221 miles) in all-electric mode. That’s a solid improvement over the previous 245 km (152 miles). With the gas tank maxed out, you get up to 1,270 km (789 miles) of CLTC-rated range.

All other specs seem to stay the same for the range-extended Avatr 12. It still packs 314 PS (310 hp / 231 kW), only drives the rear wheels and uses a 1.5-liter petrol engine to generate more electricity.

The all-electric Avatr 12 EV takes advantage of Huawei’s latest-and-greatest Qiankun ADS 4+ package. It relies on as many as four LiDARs to scan the environment (up from three) and should be much smarter than its predecessor. The infotainment system runs a HarmonyOS Cockpit 5, and all cars now come equipped with a 25-speaker Meridian audio system free of charge. Going for the top spec called Master still has its benefits, such as a four-zone climate control system.

In the meantime, the 2025 Avatr 12 is available in China in two hybrid and four electric configurations priced from 269,900 to 429,900 CNY.
