A completely new Bugatti hypercar is expected to debut sometime around the middle of the year, Motor1 reports referencing the automaker’s Head of Communications, Nicole Auger. Select customers have already had the privilege of seeing it in November 2023 during a private presentation event.
The Bugatti-Rimac joint company has been developing a successor to the Chiron since 2021. The car was Achim Anscheidt’s last creation before he retired from the position of Bugatti Design Director. A little while ago, the company shared a teaser vid and promised a full premiere this spring. It is unclear whether it was postponed to the summer; perhaps the unveiling will be gradual.
Unlike the Chiron (see video), which was an evolutionary development from the Veyron in many aspects, the new hypercar will tread completely new ground. It will be based on a brand-new chassis and utilize a completely different engine than the company’s iconic 8.0-liter W16. The new powertrain has been co-designed with Rimac and is partly electrified. According to conflicting reports, it could incorporate a Volkswagen V8, a Lamborghini V12 or an 8.3-liter, naturally aspirated Cosworth V16.
We should learn more in a few months.
