The new BYD Seal 08 saloon should debut soon, but in the meantime, the company has published its main specifications. Apparently, the hybrid comes equipped with a battery pack rated for one megawatt of charging power.
The Chinese EV giant reckons that the battery is good enough for the new Seal 08 to cover 1,000 km (621 miles) per charge in all-electric mode – that is, more than most modern BEVs can do. One can only guess what the hybrid range may be like. Furthermore, five minutes of charging will allegedly be enough to replenish enough power for 400 kilometers (248 miles) of range.
The powertrain of the saloon mates a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) with a single e-motor capable of 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW). The body measures 5,150 x 1,999 x 1,505 millimeters (201.2 x 78.1 x 58.8 inches) with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm (118.4 inches). With rear-wheel steering and adaptive suspension included as standard, it’s considered a luxury minivan in China.
The production is expected to begin in Q2 2026. Prices may start from 300,000 Yuan ($43,500) or close.
