Video: Listen to the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 sing

Nearly two years after the debut of the Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray, its top version – the Z06 – is coming to the market at last. Here is the latest official teaser video.

The footage does not show the new ‘Vette (look into our gallery for some spy shots), but it gives you an idea on how it starts up and revs up. While it is not official yet, multiple sources believe the new Z06 comes powered by the 5.5-liter V8 of the Corvette C8.R, which is rated at 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 813 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque.

To put things into perspective, the regular C8 produces 502 PS (495 hp / 369 kW) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque. The previous Z06 generation came with a 6.2-liter eight-cylinder good for 659 PS (650 hp / 485 kW) and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque.

The new Z06 will benefit from suspension tweaks, performance brakes, a fresh body kit and lower curb weight. The manufacturer will probably want to try and set a new North Loop record with it in the Production Cars category.

The premiere should take place this fall.
