Dodge Charger drops out of production

Dodge has finished assembling the current Charger generation. According to Road&Track, the final example was a Scat Pack Widebody car finished in Destroyer Gray. With the company’s plans regarding the next generation still unclear, it just might be the world’s last Charger sedan made.

The Scat Pack puts a 6.4-liter V8 under the hood and delivers 492 PS (485 hp / 362 kW) to the rear wheels through an eight-speed AT. The car takes 4.3 seconds to launch from standstill to 96.6 km/h (60 mph). The Widebody package tops it with extra aerodynamic parts, a wider track and tweaked suspension.

Even if the Dodge sedan drops out of production for good, it doesn’t mean that the Charger nameplate will go with it. The automaker has production plans for a concept car named Charger Daytona, which is rumored to be coming to the market with a variety of high-end electric powertrains and a Hurricane petrol six-pot rated at 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW) or so. It might inherit the Charger badge.

As for the next muscle saloon, it might get released with Chrysler branding. Back in spring, reports came in that Chrysler previewed a new EV concept to some of its dealerships; it could have been a sedan like the Charger.
