Catch a glimpse of the elusive Ferrari 400 Superamerica

One out of seven Ferrari 400 Superamerica Series I Coupe Aerodinamico will be going on sale in the United States soon expected to fetch $4–5 million. The 1961MY coupe is the only one of its kind to sport an aluminum body.

Ferrari’s America lineup at that time consisted V12-powered grand tourers often shipped out in bare chassis form and later given a custom body by a specialist shop. Most of the ‘400’ models ended up with Pininfarina bodies.

This particular two-door track weapon had belonged to its first owner for barely over a year. The seller is its eighth owner so far, indicating a rich background. Before 2015, the coupe resided in Italy where it spent 28 years in the hands of one and the same family. It took part in 13 competitions and shows both in its home country and in the USA, and won multiple prestigious awards.

Popping open the hood reveals a four-liter V12 cpaable of 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW). The odometer shows less than 25,000 kilometers (15,500 miles) of use over 61 years, and the seller has certificates confirming the authenticity of all key units and components. It should be noted, however, that the car did not undergo a complete restoration at any given time.
