Ferrari drops an NFT supercar like it’s a thing all over again

The Ferrari F76 depicted here doesn’t exist in the material world. It is a non-fungible token (NFT) that celebrates 76 years since the Prancing Horse’s Le Mans victory of 1949.

Designed at Ferrari Centro Stile under supervision from Flavio Manzoni, the F76 is being described as an “innovative project” that “combines the motorsport traditions of the Ferrari brand” with “design and technological innovation.” It is also called a “digital asset” meant to support the success of the company’s current Le Mans racer, the 499p.

Rather than talking about the specs, the company suggests we just marvel at the design of the F76, which it calls “generative”. One has to wonder whether an actual generative AI model was used to come up with, well, this. The exterior is overloaded with clashing aero bits, the whole car is barely taller than the wheels, and there are two individual cockpits instead of a modern cabin. Four-dash lights at the front and the back make us think about the TRON franchise, but at least the main headlight sections pop up like in the ‘80s.
