Shelby announces the Super Snake Sport F-150 series with 780hp

When Shelby American brought its Super Snake Sport F-150 muscle truck to the SEMA show in Las-Vegas, it had presented it as a one-off. Upon receiving dozens of requests, however, the company decided to launch a series of 250 such cars starting in early 2020.

Shelby’s Super Snake range already includes a modded Ford F-150 Crew Cab, but the ‘Sport’ version announced today will pay homage to the iconic Ford SVT Lightning Concept the carmaker revealed some twenty years ago.

The series comes powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine capable of 400 hp (300 kW) in its naturally aspirated form. However, Shelby raises the stakes by attaching a supercharger for 780 hp (582 kW). Tuned like this, the truck bolts from zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.45 seconds – full 0.65 s ahead of the beastly Ford F-150 Nitemare, touted by its creator Roush Performance as the ‘world’s fastest pickup’ this summer.

The change list also includes 22-inch wheels, height-adjustable suspension (lowered by default), a body kit, perforated disc brakes, and tinted windows. Cabin enhancements include a new instrument panel, pedal pads, leather finish, floor mats, and carbon accents.

The Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 is a dedicated highway truck. Those who would like an off-road version with tuned suspension are in luck, though, since Shelby has had one in stock for a while.

Prices start from U.S. $86,085 for the naturally aspirated Super Snake Sport F-150 and $93,385 for the Turbo.
