Ford F-150 police truck outraces stock car

As you may remember, Ford introduced the refreshed F-150 Police Responder in March this year. Now, recent tests have shown it to be superior to OEM in many respects.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police, the 2021 F-150 Police Responder only needs 5.4 seconds to go from zero to 97 km/h (0-60 miles) per hour, making it 0.4s faster than all other LACSD cars. The sprint to 160 km/h (100 mph) is concluded in 13.1 seconds, and a quarter-mile run is a matter of only 14.4 seconds – there are no faster vehicles in the LACSD fleet.

When Ford introduced the police truck, it did mention that it had its top speed moved from 160 km/h (100 mph) to 197 km/h (122 mph), and the Department has now confirmed it.

The truck draws its power from a 3.5-liter twin-turbo engine rated at 405 PS (400 hp / 298 kW) and 678 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque. Its predecessor could manage 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW) at most.
