The latest generation of the Ford Mustang debuted way back in 2015, and the time is ripe for a new one. After insider reports leaked last week that the muscle car would premiere much earlier than planned, the automaker has now come out with a direct confirmation.
Ford CEO Jim Farly announced the presentation of the next-gen Ford Mustang at the North American International Auto Show starting on September 14, 2022.
The latest teaser hints that the new Mustang will keep a V8 under the hood and remain available with a six-speed manual transmission – at least as an option. Rumor has it that the current four-cylinder turbo engine will also stay available. Even so, the muscle car is on its way to some major changes now, with an all-wheel-drive hybrid version reportedly also in development.
