Geely’s plug-in hybrid sedan known as the Galaxy A7 only debuted in June, but is already available to preorder in five trims. Prices range from 103,800 to 133,800 Yuan depending on the trim level, and those who hurry to leave an advance payment can be looking forward to 14,800 Yuan in assorted OEM discounts, per Geely.
The newcomer rides on a chassis called GEA (Geely Electric Architecture) and is sized 4,918 x 1,905 x 1,495 mm large with 2,845 of wheelbase. That’s 192.1 x 74.4 x 58.4 inches and 111.1 inches between the axles, respectively. It’s not the size, though, but the powertrain that Geely believes is the main selling point of the Galaxy A7.
Called the EM-i AI Super Hybrid 2.0, it combines a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a thermal efficiency of 47.26 percent with a single electric motor sending 238 PS (235 hp / 175 kW) to the wheels. The system is manufacturer-rated at 2.67 liters of gas per 100 kilometers, or more than 88 miles per U.S. liquid gallon. Geely boasts that this kind of efficiency is “unparalleled” and only attainable with AI-driven smart management of the engine.
The two lesser trims ship with an LFP battery sized 8.5 kilowatt-hours large. It doesn’t last longer than 70 km (43.5 miles) of CLTC-rated electric range. The three top trims get a bugger 18.4-kWh pack and up to 150 km (93 miles) of electric range. With the battery and the gas tank maxed out, the sedan should be good for more than 2,100 km (1,305 miles) without a single visit to the gas station, Geely claims.
A 15.4-inch infotainment display connected to a Flyme Auto unit is included by default. It supports voice commands and auto-updates itself over wireless connections. The G-Pilot H3 assist package is also included. Higher trim levels come with a heads-up display, heated seats with ventilation and massage functions, a panoramic roof, a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system (down to 8 speakers in the base trim), a modern adaptive cruise control system and self-parking.
