Great Wall Motor CEO Wei Jianjun has announced the company’s first-ever supercar coming to the market in late 2026. A team of engineers from various countries had spent around five years developing it, he added.
All technical specifics will have to wait, but it’s worth remembering that GWM has recently designed an all new 4.0-liter V8 engine (see video). It may very well make its way under the hood of this new supercar.
In the meantime, the photo above is all we have to judge its looks. The car is draped over and looks vaguely Ferrari SF90-shaped with a low roofline and bloated front fenders. Small air intakes in front of the rear arches also seem to be visible, hinting at a mid-engine layout.
Right now, this still-unnamed supercar has only one real competitor in China – the fully electric BYD Yangwang U9. That one packs four e-motors producing a combined 1,306 PS (1,288 hp / 960 kW) and snaps off the line to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.36 seconds. It’s also the official record holder of the Papenburg test track in Germany with a top speed of 496.22 km/h (308.3 mph).
Earlier rumors claimed that Great Wall was preparing a supercar for launch under the domestic brand named Zixin Qiche. The company was reportedly planning to sell it under a different badge outside of China – “Confidence Auto”. None of this has been confirmed or denied yet.
