Haval lifts the veil over two new hybrid SUVs

The vehicles formerly known as the Haval A07 and B07 have premiered at a presentation event hosted by the manufacturer. Both are expected to go on sale named ‘Xiaolong’, with the larger one of the two called ‘Xiaolong Max’. Here are the detailed specs.

Both SUVs are hybrid and all-wheel-drive by design, with up to 80 km (50 miles) of all-electric range. The standard Xiaolong is around 4.6 meters long with 2.7 meters of wheelbase, making it slightly shorter than the Dargo flagship. In turn, the Xiaolong Max measures 4.75 meters nose-to-tail and has 2.8 meters between the axles, making it slightly larger than the Haval F7.

During the presentation, the automaker mentioned developing a couple of new part-electric powertrains based on the same 1.5-liter petrol engine. One of these is expected to have 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) at the output end and the other one a superior 153 PS (151 hp / 111 kW). Both will be bundled with an electric motor installed on the rear axle and driving it with 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) of its own. The traction battery size is given as 20 kWh, with the option to downgrade it to 9.4 kWh in lower trim levels. The combined mode ranges remain to be published.

Car spotters have already shown us the shorter Xiaolong SUV without any camo – you will find the photos in the gallery here. It looks virtually indistinguishable from the final version with an unusual front end sporting a faux grille, stamped sides and a brake light built into a rear spoiler.

Based on the images, the interior has a pair of displays and a transmission tunnel without a selector on it – the latter has moved to the steering wheel.

All launch dates remain to be announced.
