FAW Group has shed light on the price point of the new Hongqi L5 saloon. Due to the extensive use of hand assembly and finish, it will start from 7.18 million CNY, or a touch above 1 million USD.
The predecessor had cost from 5 million CNY but was available exclusively for state officials and never went on public sale. Hongqi never published its sales statistics, either.
The second-generation Hongqi L5 is six meters (19.7 feet) long and commands a four-liter V8 engine with 388 PS (383 hp / 285 kW). Preorders are already being processed, but you have to qualify as a V.I.P. customer to apply.
