Earlier today, Hyundai revealed the main technical specifications of the next-generation Santa Fe crossover. It has now followed up with a preview of an off-road version called Santa Fe XRT.
Based on the images, the soft-roader has been redesigned to handle worse terrain than its standard counterpart. It has also taken on a boxier shape, reminding us of the Land Rover Defender. To feel at home away from the trodden path, it received brush guards, a tailgate ladder, a box or a canister on one side, mud tires, and an expedition rack.
The manufacturer points out that the XRT is still technically a concept that may eventually reach the market. Powertrain upgrades are unlikely, though.
In the United States, the new Santa Fe will be offered in two main flavors. One is a petrol 2.0T engine rated at 281 PS (277 hp / 207 kW) with an 8-second standard sprint time and a 210 km/h (130 mph) top speed. The other one is a hybrid powertrain with 235 PS (232 hp / 173 kW) at its disposal, a 9.5-seocnd sprint time and a 190 km/h (118 mph) top speed.
