The Jeep Recon is a five-door battery-electric SUV marketed as a far more capable alternative to the company’s first EV, the Wagoneer S. It is related to the Wrangler lineup and starts from U.S. $65,000 for the deluxe Moab Edition.
That’s the only version of the SUV available thus far, and it packs dual motors capable of 659 PS (650 hp / 485 kW) and 840 Nm (620 lb-ft) of torque. A 100-kWh battery pack grants it around 450 km (280 miles) of range, and getting the charge from 5% to 80% is a matter of 28 minutes. Despite the heavy off-road bias of the Moab Edition, it nonetheless sprints 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph) in trifling 3.7 seconds.
Each motor comes with its own dedicated reduction gear, while the rear end makes use of an inter-wheel differential lock. Drivers can select from five available drive presets and even activate Off-Road Cruise Control in challenging situations. The suspension is reinforced all around, and the undercarriage is protected with robust metal plates.
Compared to the five-door Jeep Wrangler, the Recon EV has a shorter wheelbase of just 2,870 mm (112.1 inches). Its approach and departure angles also aren’t as impressive at 34 and 34.5 degrees, but still decent. On the upside, the Recon commands a huge trunk area of 1,866 liters (65.9 cubic feet) with the seats folded. It can also wade water around 600 mm (23.4 inches) tall thanks to 33-inch standard tires and 237 millimeters (9.26 inches) of ground clearance.
This is also Jeep’s first electric car with fully removable doors and an optional automatic soft top. The interior is trimmed with wear-resistant synthetic materials and features a Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a 14.5-inch main screen – the biggest multimedia display of any Jeep vehicle on the market today. The digital dash isn’t too far off with 12.3 inches of diagonal size, and there are Alpine speakers mounted under the seats.
The production is scheduled for early 2026.
