Lucid gets its second production EV ready to roll

Lucid, the carmaker calling its Air EV the world’s most powerful sedan, has officially announced a premiere of its next car coming soon. Called the Gravity, it is a crossover SUV some sketches of which date a couple of years back.

The announcement post lacks any new content: the Gravity EV comes based on the same platform as the Air EV, with the same sleek and smooth body lines and similar-looking lights. It also boasts c-pillars offset in a different color and concealed door handles.

It is possible that the powertrains will also be taken from the sedan version. The Air comes equipped with a range of electric motors rated from 480 to 1,050 horsepower. The battery packs come rated between 644 and 800 kilometers (400 and 500 miles) of driving range. Due to its larger bulk, the Gravity EV may end up somewhat slower with less range.

Speaking of the world’s most powerful saloon, Lucid specifically refers to the range-topping Air spec named Sapphire. Triple motors produce over 1,200 horsepower and take it from zero to 60 mph (96.6 km/h) in under two seconds. The Gravity might also receive a Sapphire version later.
