A Brussels-based McLaren dealership has asked the British company’s HQ for three custom-painted McLaren 720s. The limited series will be dedicated to the luxury car marque’s first victory in the Formula One Championship.
Bruce McLaren claimed the champion’s title at the 1968 Belgium Gran Prix piloting a McLaren M7A racecar with the Papaya Orange livery.
The limited series gets what the company calls the ‘MSO Bespoke Anniversary Orange’ paintjob, which is said to be closely reminiscent of the original livery. It also sports contours of the Spa Francorchamps circuit etched onto its headrests and side panels. The ignition key bears the inscription ‘Spa 68’, and there are custom carbon-fiber door sills with the main details of the gold-winning race (the date, place, car model and driver’s name) written on them.
Other than that, the McLaren 720S Spa 68 Collection remains stock. This means all three cars still pack turbocharged V8 engines rated at 720 hp (537 kW) and accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds.
