Cadillac finally secures F1 admission

Cadillac’s Formula 1 team headed by Mario Andretti has been formally authorized to enter the tournament in 2026.

The team submitted an application in early 2024, but it was rejected. Later on, new executives came to lead Formula One, and Cadillac was greenlit. It will enter the competition in 2026 with its own chassis design, but third-party-sourced engines. The company hopes to switch to in-house powertrains in its F1 cars in 2028.

Cadillac F1 is now recognized as the first Formula racing team to be created from scratch by a major American automaker.
