This isn’t the first time Chinese carmaker Nio shows us the incredible capabilities of its SkyRide suspension system, but the new video starring an ET9 flagship could just be the wildest so far.
Apparently, you can ask the car to shake off the snow, sit back and watch it tilt from side to side until no snow is left on the roof. Even the windshield ends up considerably cleaner.
The company’s trademarked active suspension system can quickly adjust the clearance within the range of 90 mm (3.5 inches) at both axles. The engineers behind the technology claim it takes only two seconds for the car to lift or lower itself. Based on the video, the car can even control the height on a per-wheel basis.
With all that in mind, the main goal of this feature is maximum riding comfort, not bragging rights. A while ago, Nio posted some test footage of the car being driven around an artificial obstacle course carrying a whole pyramid of water-filled champagne glasses on the hood.
You can already pre-order the ET9 starting from 800,000 CNY ($111,150 at the time of writing). It has an all-electric powertrain and 707 PS (697 hp / 520 kW).
