Nissan Townstar EV introduced on official terms in Europe

Nissan has complemented its electric vehicle lineup with a battery-powered variant of its small van named Townstar. The Japanese car has 300 kilometers (186 miles) of range according to the rather realistic WLTP measurement method.

Powering the ride is an electric motor good for 122 PS (120 hp / 90 kW) and 245 Nm (181 lb-ft) of torque. The battery is not too large at 45 kilowatt-hours, and charging at a fast enough station replenishes it from 15 to 80 percent in 37 minutes.

In terms of tech features, the new Townstar makes use of adaptive cruise control, all-around view cameras, steering wheel and seat heating, and an infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. In cold weather, a special pump is used to redirect the heat from the traction battery into the cabin, saving power in a smart way.

The car is rated for 800 kilograms (1,764 pounds) of load and has a large enough trunk for two euro-pallets to fit in freely. Trailers up to 1.5 metric tons (3,300 pounds) are also supported.

Prices in Europe start from €26,300.

The Japanese small van comes based on an architecture known as CMF-CD and is a clone of the Mercedes-Benz Citan and Renault Kangoo models, both of which also have electric variants. The differences between the three largely boil down to design and trim options.
