Great Wall EV graveyard discovered in China

A junkyard of almost new Ora iQ electric cars (brand owned by Great Wall) has been discovered in China some time after the manufacturer had to shut down its Ole Sharing service.

The video shows dozens of cars sitting under a clear sky gathering dust and grime. By the look of it, they were abandoned many months ago.

Ole Sharing was a ridesharing service that Great Wall founded simultaneously with the Ora sub-brand, investing around 1,000,000,000 Yuan (U.S. $140,000,000) into it. Things went smoothly at first, with the service quickly gaining customers and positive reviews. However, the project came to a sudden halt last summer and never started up again. The media suspected that the automaker couldn’t stomach paying full prices for the EVs that used to be liable to large state subsidies prior to 2021.

It remains unclear why no one bothered to sell the used vehicles, though. The Ora iQ is no longer being produced.
