Pininfarina revives the Honda NSX on JAS platform

The legendary Italian coachbuilder has joined forced with JAS Motorsport to design a modern version of the iconic Honda NSX from the ‘90s. The project was first announced in July and still has no premiere date, but we already know that the coupe runs on an upgraded variant of Honda’s original V6.

Compared to the first-generation NSX model (see video), the pending reimagination looks largely similar with its pop-up headlamps, recognizable front fascia, overall body outlines and integrated rear wing. Despite these similarities, it still looks like its own thing with a short rear overhang, wide wheel arches and a larger front air intake.

All bodywork seen here is carbon, Pininfarina claims. The engine specs are pending, but it’s already official that the transmission is six-speed manual. The original NSX had a 3.0-liter V6 good for 290 PS (286 hp / 214 kW). Once it reaches the market, the resurrected NSX will be sold primarily as a street-legal supercar, although rumors claim that a track-only spec is in development as well.

JAS Motorsport, a long-standing partner of Honda Racing, adds that every car will take advantage of its latest-and-greatest chassis design fully suitable for motorsports. It will go into production under JAS branding in Milan, Italy in the first half of 2026.

On an interesting side note, Pininfarina is not the only Italian coachbuilder currently working on bringing back the legend that was the first-gen Honda NSX. ItalDesign shared a teaser earlier this month that made it clear that it, too, was preparing its own variant. Both will likely be strictly limited in production and cost accordingly, so if mass-market pricing is important for you, then better look elsewhere.
