A 2011 Porsche Cayenne S reshaped into a light truck for daily driving is currently up for grabs on the Christchurch European website in New Zealand. The asking price is just under 50,000 NZD, which comes to roughly 30,000 USD.
The owner claims he had spent the equivalent of 47,700 USD on creating the car and making it street-legal in the country, so it sounds like a bargain at first. The Cayenne lost some of its roof in the process along with the rear doors, but received a custom truck bed in return. Its exact dimensions aren’t specified, but the first-generation Cayenne SUV was 4,846 mm (190.8 inches) long with 2,895 mm (114 inches) between the axles, so you can extrapolate from there. Nothing suggests that the wheelbase has been altered in any way.
All in all, the build looks fairly professionally done with a rather nice tailgate, taillights and rear window all providing the impression of a factory-made truck. The cabin isn’t well represented in the gallery above, so we don’t know what the rear row looks like. Is there a small bench seat or a small trunk area? You may want to ask Christchurch European directly if you want answers.
As for the engine, it’s still the Cayenne’s old-and-proven 3.0-liter V6 TDI rated at 243 PS (240 hp / 179 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels.
If you ask us, the biggest caveat is that the ute has whopping 204,000 kilometers (126,760 miles) on the odometer. Other than that, it might be worth its asking price for the novelty value alone.
