Maxus V70 coming to the market this month

SAIC Group absorbed the British car brand LDV 13 years ago. It is now considered Chinese and makes pickup trucks, SUVs and minivans, among other vehicles. Its latest product is an MPV badged ‘Maxus V70’, set to go on sale later in March.

The model is essentially based on the Volkswagen T6. Only the classic minibus variant has been introduced so far, but the company says it will be releasing a camper, a passenger van and even a business van on the same platform later on.

The standard Maxus V70 features a sliding door at the side and swinging doors at the rear end. The lighting is LED-based all around by default, and there can be two or three seat rows in the cabin. A 12.3-inch infotainment system is included, too.

From the technical perspective, the V70 is based on a new platform that enables it to use Level 2 self-driving tech. This option will not be available at launch date, Maxus says, but it will be added later.

The power is provided by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel obtainable in 125 and 150 PS variants (123 and 148 hp; 92 and 110 kW, respectively).
