Skoda has decided to make a delivery SUV out of the Enyaq for the UK market. The conversions will be handled by Strongs Plastic Products, a local fabricator of plastic goods.
You may remember that a while ago, a UK-based company called National Grid Energy Distribution (NGED) ordered a limited series of 70 Skoda Enyaq Cargo crossovers for its own purposes. The new version is also called Cargo and is largely identical to it, but not subject to any production limits.
Compared to the stock Enyaq, the Cargo looks the same and features the same electric powertrain. The main difference can be found in the cabin, where the rear seat row was removed and a metallic undertray was put into its place. It’s unclear how large the cargo area is, but the stock Enyaq is quite the heavy hauler with 1,710 liters (60.4 cubic feet) of available space once you fold down the rear seats. This one should perform even better.
The base spec is called the Enyaq Cargo 85. It packs a single electric motor with 282 PS (278 hp / 207 kW) that only drives the rear wheels. An 82-kWh battery gives it up to 577 km (358 miles) of range. Opting for a dual-motor version called the Cargo 85x nets you AWD and better performance, but drops the range to 518 km (322 miles).
Prices for the latest Skoda Enyaq start from £44,300 in the UK. Ordering a conversion from Strongs Plastic Products is £1,800 extra. Although the Enyaq is a light passenger car, its Cargo version is legally recognized in Great Britain as a light commercial vehicle (CLV). As such, it is eligible for all tax deductions applying to such vehicles.
