Wey looks for a name for its retro-themed V72 to begin production

Chinese automaker Wey has announced a vote to let its customers determine the best name for a production car based on the retro-styled V72 Concept.

Participants are invited to choose from a list of 20 names, notably including Jue Shi, Yuan Meng and Shi Guang, which could be translated as ‘Jazz’, ‘Living the Dream’, and ‘Time Machine’. The poll will close on October 21.

The vintage-inspired design spreads to both exterior and interior, where there are round air vents and a nostalgia-inducing steering wheel with a half-circle for the horn. Other than the design, though, the equipment found inside is modern, with as many as three displays and touch-sensitive controls on the wheel.

The Wey V72 will be a crossover SUV, so it would make sense for it to be based on the same platform as the Wey Mocha, which uses a nine-speed DCT and makes 214 PS (211 hp / 157 kW). This is not yet official, though.
