Future self-driving taxi operators/testers may look forward to wages up to $33.60/hour, the Tesla website claims. In the meantime, the company has yet to obtain a driving permit for its robotaxi prototypes.
Applicants are supposed to be fluent in American English and to have a good idea of how autonomous vehicles operate. They must also be confident PC users.
The job description mentions multiple tiers. Tier 1 comes with hourly rates ranging from $25.25 to $27.60. Tier 2 promises from $28.75 to $30.60. Early morning and night shifts come with a 10% premium, so the maximum hourly rate amounts to $33.60, rounded down.
Applicants are expected to process telemetry data from the taxis, configure software, as well as analyze audio recordings and camera feeds. The schedule is variable with weeks alternating between Tuesday–Saturday and Sunday–Thursday. There are three shifts to choose from: morning, day and night.
According to InsideEVs, Tesla is also looking for operators in Brooklyn, NYC, as well as certain locations in Texas, Florida and California.
The electric automaker launched its autonomous taxi fleet in June this year. The service is currently only available in test mode, i.e., to select customers in strictly limited areas.
