Toyota bZ7 bows in China

After its Shanghai show premiere (see video), GAC and Toyota’s all-new bZ7 saloon is now ready to ship in China. It is all-electric and aspires to be the flagship of the automaker’s bZ lineup with Huawei electronics and Xiaomi services on board.

We hear that the sales will start in late 2025, so let’s take a closer look at the specs while the launch date remains unknown. The bZ7 is a full-size vehicle with 5,130 mm (200.4 inches) from nose to tail, 1,965 mm (76.7 inches) from side to side and 1,506 mm (58.8 inches) from top to bottom. The wheelbase comes in at 3,020 mm (118 inches), making the EV more than 200 mm (8 inches) longer than the China-spec Camry.

In its most basic guise, the bZ7 makes do with a single rear-axle motor driving it with 281 PS (277 hp / 207 kW) and enabling a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). The drivetrain components are provided by Huawei.

All battery specs and range figures remain to be announced. What we do know is that the bZ7 is Toyota’s first electric vehicle advertised as “fully integrated into the Xiaomi ecosystem.” Crucially, this means that the owners can access and control their smart home infrastructure straight from their vehicle. A number of electronic driving assists are supplied by another Chinese company, Momenta.
