Toyota and its Gazoo Racing subdivision are getting ready to unveil a hardcore new GR Supra. According to BestCarWeb, the model will receive the same engine as the BMW M4 CSL with 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) at the crank and leave the market just two years later.
Specifically, the anonymous sources claim that the GR Supra will debut in the spring of 2023 and go on sale in 2024. In 2025, Toyota will allegedly discontinue the Supra lineup for good.
The current generation of the Japanese sports car runs on a BMW 4-Series platform and utilizes its 3.0-liter inline-six engine to hit the wheels with 387 PS (382 hp / 285 kW) and 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) of torque. This is not the most powerful engine in the 4-Series, and the Supra equipped with it needs at least 4.1 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph). To put things into perspective, the latest BMW M4 CSL concludes the same sprint in 3.7 seconds.
In addition to the better engine, the new Supra is expected to receive suspension and body kit upgrades. All the details will be revealed later.
