Australian car parts vendor Repco is selling a restomod based on a 55-year-old Datsun 1200 pickup truck. The car, which shares its platform with the second-gen Nissan Sunny, has been used mostly for ads and as a showcase display.
It will now be raffled off to a random Repco customer who makes a purchase from the company before the end of June. All customers spending at least 100 AUD (~72 USD) are eligible. The winner gets a fully restored truck with refurbished body, kit and interior, as well as upgraded tech. Judging by the videos posted so far, it features a unique front bumper, fender-mounted side mirrors, a fine-mesh grille, and a set of bespoke 15-inch wheels.
Interior highlights include Recaro recliner seats, a Haltech IC7 digital dash and a Sparco steering wheel. The trim involves generous amounts of diamond-stitched imitation leather and Alcantara.
The admittedly rather feeble 1.2-liter engine that powered the original Datsun 1200 is long gone, replaced with a superior 1.8-liter Nissan four-cylinder. We don’t know how much it power and torque it makes, but overhauled cooling, exhaust system, clutch and ECU should make it considerably more enjoyable to drive than the hopelessly outdated original.
