According to Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer, the company has no intention to follow the dubious trend of reviving an iconic nameplate only to slap it onto a lame modern car.
In his latest interview, Schäfer said that the only time Volkswagen would ever consider doing that is if the car it designs actually stays true to the DNA of its historical prototype.
To give an example, he said we shouldn’t be worried about seeing an all-electric VW Scirocco or Corrado SUV on the streets anytime soon. That’s a rare and refreshing example of common sense from an automaker, if you ask us.
